Committed to medical development

We are a technology startup dedicated to being at the forefront of innovation in the medical field by developing in vitro models using 3D printing to simulate endovascular embolizations of brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and other vascular pathologies.

Founded in 2023 in Santiago de Chile, Qisa3D is where technology and medical knowledge intertwine to create models that set new standards in interventional neuroradiology education. Our mission is to provide healthcare professionals with educational tools that not only enhance their technical skills but also enable them to practice complex procedures with confidence and safety.

Through high-fidelity 3D printing with AI-aided design and the unique perspective offered by our design and engineering expertise, each AVM and vascular model we develop is a masterpiece of anatomical precision. We aim to become leaders in the creation and design of in vitro models of brain AVMs using cutting-edge technology, AI, and 3D printing. Our vision is to be the preferred choice for educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and companies seeking the highest quality in endovascular procedure simulation, education, development, and research.

Why our company is named Qisa3D?

Qisa means bird's nest in Quechua, a language spoken by an ancient indigenous group from the Andes in South America, which spans several modern countries. We chose this name because it ties into nidus, a key part of brain AVMs, and reflects our work in creating 3D in vitro models.

Rodrigo Rivera MD PhD, Co-founder and CEO Qisa3D

He is a Neurosurgeon and Interventional Neuroradiologist, holding a Ph.D. in Innovation and Technology from the University of Limoges, France. He leads the company’s medical division and possesses extensive experience and expertise in diagnosing and treating brain Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) and other vascular pathologies of the nervous system.

His doctoral thesis on in vitro 3D models for brain AVMs was the catalyst for bringing this innovation into the production sphere. The combination of his clinical experience, research, and entrepreneurial skills makes him a key figure in Qisa3D’s development and in the creation of in vitro models for training, education, and development of new therapies for brain AVMs.

Trained in both industrial design and industrial civil engineering, with a master’s degree in strategic design, Álvaro applies this broad technical and creative knowledge to lead the development of medical training models, using rapid prototyping technologies and advanced artificial intelligence applications.

Committed to creating detailed and accurate anatomical models, his work facilitates continuous improvement of practical skills for healthcare professionals. Additionally, his key role as a researcher and lecturer at the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa María Chile, allows him to focus on innovation management and product development, where he integrates emerging technologies to drive advances in medical education and practice.

Miguel Cruces Project Manager

Commercial Engineer with an MBA, has extensive experience in project management and leadership with a proven ability to lead and execute high-impact institutional projects. He directs institutional projects from planning through execution and evaluation, leads the development and review processes of institutional strategic plans involving all stakeholders, and successfully applies for private and state projects at all educational levels, meeting established schedules and objectives. He oversees project results and performance, implementing continuous improvements to achieve established KPIs. With strong skills in team management, data analysis, and strategic decision-making, Miguel has been a key element in the successful implementation of educational projects that have had a significant impact on the communities they serve.

Jhon Intriago AI Programing Engineer

Is a Ph.D. Candidate in Electrical Engineering at the University of Chile, with a focus on learning multimodal representation. He has a solid academic background, which includes a Master's degree in Computer Science, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. His research projects are highly specialized in neural networks and agent-based simulations.
In his previous roles in the industry, he held software development positions where he worked on developing and optimizing applications on complex platforms.
In addition, he has research experience in prestigious projects in Chile, where he has contributed to the development of methodologies for the analysis of medical images and the design of platforms for transmission planning. His programming skills and applied research experience have positioned him as a key member in these projects, excelling in the implementation of advanced models and explainability techniques in AI

Javier De la Cerda Product Engineer

A Design Engineer, specializes in innovative product design and advanced manufacturing processes, with a strong emphasis on additive manufacturing techniques. Javier collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize designs, ensuring seamless transitions from virtual prototypes to tangible products, utilizing state-of-the-art additive manufacturing technologies.

By closely engaging with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, Javier ensures that all design specifications align with manufacturing capabilities and market demands. His commitment to continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making has led to the successful implementation of innovative engineering solutions that elevate product quality and drive efficiency in the manufacturing process.

Tomas Abedrapo Electrical Engineer

Is an Electrical Engineer from the University of Chile, currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science, with extensive experience in computational intelligence, deep learning, data analysis, and the design and implementation of digital systems. He has successfully led and executed high-impact technological projects, managing all stages from planning to implementation and evaluation, while demonstrating strong team management and strategic decision-making skills. His work combines advanced knowledge of machine learning with a practical approach to innovative solutions applied to both industry and research. Currently, he is contributing to the design of a fluid pump for a company, integrating advanced digital tools and optimization techniques to tackle complex technical challenges, excelling in transforming technical problems into efficient, high-value solutions.

Charbel Mounayer, MD PhD. Medical Advisor.

Is an Interventional Neuroradiologist with recognized expertise and worldwide acclaim in the management of cerebral AVMs. He is a professor at the University of Limoges, France, and serves as the director of the Neuroradiology department at the CHU de Limoges.
A great teacher and mentor to many neuroradiologists around the world who have trained under him. Dr. Mounayer also supervises the thesis on in vitro models for brain AVMs.
With over 150 scientific publications in neuroradiology and expertise in brain AVMs, he is undoubtedly a key figure in the development, creation, and evaluation of new in vitro models.
